Hardnoise - Untitled

The snooker's on just now and I like it a bit more these days tha I used to. Maybe it's my age. I didn't manage to get a ticket this year but I did go to five of the qualifying sessions and apart from the unfathomably uncomfortable seating I enjoyed it a lot. Even the missus had a good time. I think. Sat in the cafe opposite Alan McManus and Anthony McGill, had a pee standing next to James Wattana. Glory days. Anyway as I'm the only snooker fan here right now I'll stop but I upped this to let you know if I was a pro snooker player this is the music I'd be walking down the steps at the Crucible to.

SL Troopers - Knowledge ...I'm Gonna Get Me Some

I went shopping for records last weekend and came home with nothing. I know according to recent statistics that vinyl is on the up and a lot of people are 'getting back in to it' but it's just not the same any more. I used to go up town at least twice a week and hardly ever came back empty handed, felt disappointed if I did. I remember the days when I used to come back with boss tunes like this..

'Tech 1 comes with the verbal stumlar'

VA - Hard As Hell Four

Only bought this for two tracks:

B3 - First Frontal Assault - Hits From Small Arms Fire

and

B5 - Militant Posture - Dawn Of Terror

Both of which at the time of release were only available on this record. Track B2 is pretty fresh too; MC Duke drops the 'MC' prefix and brings it good style with a decent remix that I think is superior to the original found on his debut LP.
The FFA track is the one for me though, straight up needs a re-release on 12" if you ask me. Firin'..

D Marcus C - Freedom

Here's a decent self released 12" which seems to go under the radar a heck of a lot. Once upon a year it would be fetching a few bob, nowadays it's a really easy find for the price of a bag o' chips. Always loved that 'Funk For The Folks' break too, killer.

S.W.S. - Overture

The crew's final and my personal favourite is an easy pick up these days, took me a while to find one some years back though. UK hip hop was on fire around this time and you could be forgiven today for letting some of the less known quality releases slipping your mind. Which is a cue to give thanks to Aroe for resurrecting some forgotten classics in compiling the 'Crown Jewels' series of mixtapes, 'Leaf In The Wind' which is on the flip side of this 12" being spun near the end of volume 2.  The title track will always remain a firm fave in my eyes though and if there's a chance that any unreleased stuff is knocking about maybe someone could do the right thing?
